Dawn of War 2 and Cookies

•February 10, 2009 • Leave a Comment

This is the craziest dream that I think I have had in a long while.  I think it is because I have been playing a lot of Dawn of War 2 and then last night I had 10 snickerdoodles that sent my heart racing right before bed.  Crazy.

So in the dream I was walking around in one of the big war machine thingies that the Space Marines have in Dawn of War 2.  Before me was a huge, and I mean huge, snickerdoodle.  But instead of being covered with sugar and cinnamon goodness it was covered with these terrible little creatures from Dawn of War called Hormagaunts.  They coverd the snickerdoodle just like the sugar and cinnamon would, except they were moving around across the surface of the cookie.

For some reason I knew that I had to clear the cookie of all the baddies if I was going to enjoy the warm, awesome goodness of the cookie.  However, as I went to clear them all away the cookie turned into a huge glob of sticky stuff and my machine got stuck and the little bug creature began to swarm all over me.

I swung and I fought as best as I could but the wave of creatures began to overwhelm me and I started striving really hard when all of a sudden I woke up.  I was sweating pretty badly at this point and had to let some air in under my blanket to cool down.

Not to self, no more eating cookies and playing Dawn of War 2 right before bed.

Zombie Panic Contest and Random Bus Stranger

•October 14, 2008 • Leave a Comment

This dream is a little strange and was what I woke up to this morning. Luckily, the dream woke me up so I remember a lot of it very vividly. This would not have been the case if the alarm woke me up from my sleep. So here it is:

I was on the little bit of land. Before me was a little wooded area and to my back, left, and right was open area. I think there was a road behind me as well, but I am not entirely certain. Where I was kind of reminds me of a road by my high school.

Either way, I was standing there with another person who wasn’t really a person – they were a zombie. They didn’t look like a zombie, but looked very normal in appearance. This person was very non-descript and I can only really say that I was talking to a person in my dream. He was male, but I don’t really know what he looked like even though I was talking with him. I was looking into the woods ahead of me and at a trailer that was through the thicket.

Me and this zombie-man were talking and eventually I challenged this zombie-man to a contest. He could take four of his buddies and I would have one buddy with me. They would try and turn us into zombies (ala. 28 Days Later – not to be confused with 28 days :) ) and we would try and kill them. We quickly agreed that this would be our agreement.

I walked through the thicket in front of me and past the trailer into a huge grass field. There was a deep wood off to the left and up a gradual incline there was a fairly large house. The grass was a green as any grass I have ever seen. There were some people on the grass near the wood congregated together.

I remember standing with a companion by my side, just some random person, and we were standing with our backs to the house. In front of us was a line of about 8 or so zombies – again very normal looking. At that moment I knew that all those people who were now off to our right were dead and that the zombies were going to not really honor the terms of our competition but try and kill us all.

Then the competition started and we were given a head start to get ready. Me and my companion ran up the hill toward the house and entered it. The room we entered was empty, like the house had just been built. The carpet was tan and the walls were off-white. There was a small trim on the walls of wood that went up about two feet. There was a light on in a adjacent room so we made our way that way.

Eventually we came through a room, a hallway, and down some steps until we came to this low room with an island. On the left side of the room was a window to an inner court yard. At the head of the room was the island with cabinets behind it. This area looked like a bar or mini kitchen. On the right wall just near the head of the room was a stair case leading upward. There was a another entrance on the back wall behind us that led into a pink room.

That is where me and my companion went, into the pink room. In this pink room there was a column in the center of the room and the column was hollowed out in such a way that you could easily climb the column to a room above that was also pink. This was clearly a girls room. I handed my companion (who was now definitely my wife, by the way) a shot gun that was fully loaded. I also gave her some more ammo.

I said, “Head up to that room and stay there. We are going to make our stand there and it looks like this the only way to get into the room. We should be able to pick them off as they make there way up the column to get to us. I love Jess (you).”

She climbed the column while I headed back into the room with the mini-kitchen. Once I entered the room an entire family came into the room too. There was a father, who had a salt and pepper beard and was a little heavy set with long black hair – like an Italian, a mother who I can’t remember a thing about, and a little boy and girl.

I asked the father if he had gun. He reaching into a cabinet in the island and brought out a backpack that he said had a shotgun in it. I told him to hurry up the column and into the girls room where my wife, Jess, was. As they were heading that way the the first zombie entered the room.

What was interesting about this zombie was that it looked exactly like a guy who rode the bus every day just like me when I road the bus. Again, he didn’t look like a zombie, but I just knew that he was one. I raised my pistol and shot him in the stomach but it didn’t stop him. He bent over and then recovered and then jumped amidst the family on their way down the hallway.

I raised my gun again but didn’t want to hit any of the people in the family so I hesitated to shoot. I wanted to hit him in the head so that he wouldn’t be able to do anything anymore. My gun was raised and my sight was set and …

I woke up.

Looking For Wood In A Warehouse Store

•October 13, 2008 • Leave a Comment

This dream was a little strange, but sort of semi-related to some things going on in real life.

I was in this huge, ceiling-less warehouse store looking for wood.  I was apparently working on some project that I already had wood for. What this project was about I have no idea, but I already had some wood for the project that I need to make sure that the wood I was buying at the store would work with.

I remember the aisle that I was walking down was fairly dark, but as I approached the wood there was a light over it. The section of aisle before it and after it was still relatively dark, so the wood had a sort of florescent glow going on with it.

The wood pile was a mixture of molded wood and normal wood. There were some two by fours there and there was also some wood that looked to me like ply wood, or at least a sheet of wood, all mixed together. The mold on some of the wood was a florescent green, yellow, and orange – so it was clearly moldy.

I ask the warehouse worker if it would be a problem to mix molded wood with unmolded and I don’t remembered if he answered me or not in my dream. But after asking him, I continued down the aisle to my left (I was facing the wood pile so my left was just exiting the aisle in the same direction that I entered it).

After exiting the aisle I found myself in a very open space inside a indoor mall. Again, the ceiling was bright and appeared to be non-existent. Before me was an escalator that went down to my right, but that fact was hidden from my view – I just knew it for some reason. Also too my right was a wide hallway that led into a massive space, like the interior of a massive indoor mall with a huge amount of space between the two walls of stores.

I headed toward the escalator and that is all I can remember about that dream.

Common Elements Between This Dream and Reality

When I was cleaning out my car this weekend to put my child’s stroller in it I discovered that we had some cardboard that had become moldy due to some spilled coolant. This mold was a very strange color, kind of fluorescent like.

Man Hit Woman With Car, Foot Chase Ensues

I dreamt that I was on the road by a bridge.  The water was on my right and the entrance to the bridge was in front of me.  The sky was grey, the road was grey, the river was grey, and the bridge was grey.  A woman wearing a grey dress that looked like it came out of the 1950s US military was crossing the entrance to the bridge in front of me.  She was walking toward me.

Then a yellow car coming from the same direction turned left and entered the bridge – hitting the woman.  The woman in grey did not go flying like you would think she would from gettin hit by a car, but instead she fell into a crack in the pavement from being hit.  After the initial conact all that remained of the woman outside of the crack was her body.  The had stopped, like it had hit a wall or something.

The man inside the car started it moving again and the wheels were lined up with the womans body.  I saw the man drive over the woman, forcing her down into the crack completely.  I knew she was dead.

I ran over to the rack as the yellow car slowly drove away.  I saw the woman floating in water in the crack.  I reach my hand down and saw the pale blue water, her pale white skin, and her grey dress/uniform.  I touched her on the forehead and knew that she was dead.

I got really angry that the driver of the yellow car had done something like that so I ran after the car.  I eventually caught up to it a little way down the bridge and started yelling at the driver.  He looked to his left outside the driver side window and looked at me.  He had brown driving gloves on.  He didn’t stop driving and looked ahead again.

I kept yelling at him and eventually he stopped and got out of the car.  He started running away.

I chased him and got a crowd of people to pursue with me.  Eventually we got hold of him in a room near the end of the bridge.  We jumped on his back and for some reason his back was bare.  I started taking off my shoes so that I could take the laces off and tie his hands and feet.

That is all I remember about that one.

My Dream In Balboa Park On the Eve of a Fever

•October 1, 2008 • Leave a Comment

On Sunday I came down with a fever.  I normally have the strangest, most frustrating dreams when I am sick.  They are not pleasant and often reflect the physical symptoms of my illness.  This dream was no different.

I dreamt that I was at Balboa Park (where I was early in the day trolling the hillside for the homeless and those in need of a warm meal since we were hosting a dinner at a chapel just off the park).  I was on the west side of the park on the far west corner, but not all the way at the south that I would be able to see the 805.  I was above a little green inlet that runs up the park parallel to the street but stays on a level as the street rises on one side and a hill on the other.  I was at the far north side of this inlet looking down on the green grass below.

The next thing I know I am laying down on my right side with this long, endless chain running in front of me.  The chain is tangled and needs to be untangled – at task that is for some reason accomplished by pedaling my feet like I am riding a bicycle.  My legs ache as I turn them over and over again but still the chain will not run straight.

Several kids run by, clearly wearing a form of a kids GPS device.  Some are wearing watches, others have a cell phone in their hand, still others have a small tracker implanted in their shoe.  What is really weird is that I know which one has which even though they all look like normal white kids on their way to a parochial school.

I woke up several times from the aches in my body, but each time I awoke I was stuck back in the same position – on my right side (which was how I was sleeping) and pedaling like made to make the chain untangled. It was MISERABLE!

Finally, I woke up at 1 AM and was tired of having the same dream over and over again. So I went to my medicine cabinet and took some PM anti-inflammatory medication and laid on the couch and fell asleep. Sweet, sweet medicated sleep. I loved it.

A House In the Forest

•September 26, 2008 • Leave a Comment

I dreamt that I was in a forest and there house off to my right.  I was on my red road bike riding on a dirt path when I pulled up to the house.  On the left side of the house was a stair case leading up to the front door.  Instead of walking up the stairs, I jumped my bike up each stair like I see mountain bikers do at Islands on their big screen TVs.

When I got to the front door I opened the door as was greeted by April and Annete, two of my wifes friends.  Annete I have never meet in person but I have seen pictures of on Facebook and in picture albums.  In real life the two girls (who are sisters) look similar but are definitley different in appearance.  In my dream they looked so much alike I remember thinking they were twins but that they couldn’t be because they were different ages, with Annete being the older of the two.  They both looked like April though in my dream.

The room I entered was open and spaceous, with a kitchen to my left and an open room directly before me.  In the center of the room was a bowl and in the bowl was a fruit salad.  The fruit salad contained many different fruits, but all that I could distinguish as a particular fruit was watermelon.  I tasted some and it had the distinct flavor of watermelon flavored Jolly Rancher.  April said that she didn’t like that particular flavor of watermelon.

Alarms and Dreams

•September 23, 2008 • Leave a Comment

I find it nearly impossible to remember dreams after waking up from an alarm. It could be the greatest dream I have ever had, but as soon as I am roused by that blaring siren that begins my work day it is directly driven from my mind. I find this very disturbing.

How do I know that the dream I was having isn’t important for revealing some subconscious breakthrough to me? How am I to see how my mind works without the ability to think about what I think about? What is to become of these dreams? Am I to continue to dream them until one day I dream it on a Saturday? (Where neither alarm nor work disturb). I don’t know because it doesn’t say.
